Since 1947, Youth of the Year has been Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s premier recognition program, celebrating the extraordinary achievements of Club members. Each local Boys & Girls Club selects a Youth of the Year, between the ages of 14-18, to represent his/her organization in the state competition. These Club members embody the values of leadership and service; academic excellence; and healthy lifestyles, and exemplify the critical impact that Boys & Girls Clubs have on the lives of young people.

James Bonn is a senior at Iroquois High School and has been attending the Boys & Girls Club of Elma, Marilla & Wales for 10 years. Jamie has been an active member of the Boys & Girls Club, building life-long friendships and thriving in the club’s athletic programs. Jamie has always been a natural leader, and someone that younger members look up to as a positive role model. He has dedicated over 100 hours to serving the youth in his community by volunteering with local summer camp programs and a youth hockey organization. Jamie is always the first person to lend a hand to those in need and the one younger members turn to as a pillar of support. Jamie fondly remembers looking up to the Boys & Girls Club staff as a child, and is excited to now be a Club employee himself. Jamie will be attending SUNY Geneseo in the fall and is looking forward to exploring different career options at college.
