Since 1947, Youth of the Year has been Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s premier recognition program, celebrating the extraordinary achievements of Club members. Each local Boys & Girls Club selects a Youth of the Year, between the ages of 14-18, to represent his/her organization in the state competition. These Club members embody the values of leadership and service; academic excellence; and healthy lifestyles, and exemplify the critical impact that Boys & Girls Clubs have on the lives of young people.

Ryan Skipper is a senior at Iroquois High School and has been attending the Boys & Girls Club of Elma, Marilla and Wales for over 10 years. He has been very active in the club’s athletic programs, community service outreach, volunteer training program, and has been recognized as a Member of the Month and Boy of the Year. Outside of the club Ryan plays volleyball, golf, and lacrosse at his high school. He also volunteers at community youth athletic programs. Ryan will be graduating in June with a Regents Diploma and plans to continue his education next year studying Electrical Construction and Electrician Maintenance at Alfred State College.
